ILS 2010 After Lyon (France) in 2006, Wisconsin (USA) in 2008, Casablanca (western of Morocco) will host the Third International Conference on Information Systems, Logistics and Supply Chain: ILS 2010. The central thematic of this edition of the conference is "Creating value through green supply chains".

The International Conference on Information Systems, Logistics and Supply Chain focuses on the specific issues of global supply chain and logistics management with an emphasis on developing and applying appropriate information systems and technologies. It aims at identifying emerging industrial issues and research opportunities in the area of supply chain management and information systems by working closely with industry.
The conference provides academics, researchers, government and industry professionals with a forum to discuss, exchange and examine a range of topics related to supply network, logistics operations management, supply chain management and optimization and information systems.

Le pays a lancé plusieurs chantiers et projets de réforme visant l’accélération de la croissance économique et la création d’emplois pour inscrire son économie au cœur de la mondialisation. Ces projets ambitionnent de rendre les entreprises marocaines davantage compétitives. Cette compétitivité exige une logistique commerciale performante en mesure de renforcer le taux de croissance économique. Selon l'indice de performance logistique de 2008, le Maroc a été classé 94ème sur 150 pays. Ce classement avait pris en compte huit critères dont l'infrastructure, les compétences, la formation et la capacité de chargement. Il faut déployer plus d’efforts pour relever de nouveaux défis car le Maroc ne peut plus se permettre de voir sa logistique à la traîne par rapport à ce qui est fait dans des pays à économie similaire. C’est dans cette optique qu’une politique logistique ambitieuse est en perspective dans le c L’objectif de la conférence est de discuter les enjeux logistiques au Maroc et le développement de ses plateformes logistiques. La conférence met en exergue ces développements à la lumière de ce qui se fait en France et au Canada surtout en matière de collaboration entre entreprises et universités. The ILS advisory committee proudly announces the 1st Professor Salah E. Elmaghraby’s Best Student Paper Award, to be presented at the ILS 2010 conference in Casablanca, Morocco, in April, 14-16 2010. Professor Salah E. Elmaghraby has inspired so many researchers and impacted positively and deeply their work. This Award is a tribute to him and to his acknowledged and remarkable contributions to the Production and Operations Research fields. The purpose of the Elmaghraby Best Student Paper Award is to reward excellence in scientific work done by doctoral candidates and to encourage a high standard of scientific communication. The award is the ILS’ form of recognition and encouragement of student effort. The ILS PhD Student Competition Committee is seeking new perspectives and fresh ideas on research topics that address issues that fit within the scope of the ILS conference theme and concerns. Doctoral Students from around the world are invited to submit research papers that report upon their achievements. The Competition aims at giving students the opportunity to share their research ideas and results in a special ILS forum that provides visibility for their work. The students will also have the opportunity to meet and interact with ILS attendees to share ideas, gain new insights, and understand possible practical applications. The ILS Competition Committee shall provide detailed feedback to students about their research papers and presentations, and shall recognize and reward outstanding students. Papers will be judged based on their contribution towards the advancement of theory and practice of Operations and Production Management, Supply chain management, Logistics and Information Systems. The winner of the best student paper will receive €1000 and a certificate. At most two “runner up’s” shall receive Certificates of Honourable Mention. The conditions for eligibility are: Requirements for Submission of an Entry: The Elmaghraby Best Student Paper Award’s committee:
1. The student must be PhD-candidate at the time of submission of the paper for competition. Only one paper can be submitted by a student.
2. The submitted paper must report on original research conducted primarily by the candidate. Some assistance by other individuals such as the student’s faculty advisor is permitted as long as the student is the real “first author”. This must be confirmed in the Advisor’s letter.
3. The topic of the paper should fall within the scope of the ILS conference theme. A list of topics can be found on the conference website (www.ic-ils.net).
4. The paper should be submitted to the conference in the requested format (see the web www.ic-ils.net); it will be reviewed by the members of the Student Competition Committee.
5. The paper may be presented either in a regular session or in one of the thematic sessions proposed for the conference.
6. The paper must be signalled for consideration for the Elmaghraby’s Best Student Paper Award.
7. The student should plan to attend the conference, to present his/her paper and to participate in the awards ceremony that is conducted during the gala dinner of the conference.
8. The award will be decided by the Conference Scientific Committee based on the recommendations of the appointed Student Competition Committee. If there are more than one suitable entry a second prize may be awarded. A written citation will accompany each prize.
9. In judging a submitted paper, the Student Competition Committee will consider the originality of the work, the standard of its scientific/practical contribution, the clarity of expression and the quality of the presentation by the student.
10. The Student Competition Committee reserves the right not to award any prizes if it deems the entries not of high enough calibre; or to award only one prize.
11. A brief personal profile and a photograph of the winner are to be submitted by each prize winner to Ms. Diana Raulier (see e-address below) by the end of the month in which the conference is held for publication on the web site of ILS Conference.
• A “cover page” (in PDF) with the candidate’s name, current address, e-mail address, the name, affiliation and e-mail address of the candidate’s advisor.
• The paper (in PDF) as submitted to the conference. Extended abstracts and works in progress do not qualify.
• A letter (in PDF) from the advisor confirming
- the candidate’s name and current affiliation
- the title of the paper
- the satisfaction of the eligibility requirements
Moreover, it must be clear that the research has been mainly conducted by the student, with minimal assistance from other individuals.
